A dramatic Puchong-area police shootout yesterday evening saw the death of a suspected human trafficker.

Officers were in the midst of attempting to arrest the suspect in the Puchong Jaya neighborhood of Kuala Lumpur at 7:30pm in the evening, when the suspect drove into them. Police discharged their weapons, killing the man. At the time of the shoot-out, eight foreign-nationals were in the vehicle with him. One has been sent to hospital for treatment.

The dead suspect is reportedly a Malaysian national.
Bystanders have told reporters that a loud ruckus could be heard, with one shopkeeper observing that police first approached the car, demanding that everyone inside get out before shots were fired.
Central police headquarters Bukit Aman have confirmed the incident and will be releasing an official statement on the matter “soon.”
