Earlier this month, the case of a three-year-old abandoned in an Ampang hospital by his mother and stepfather in serious condition, only to die 30 minutes later shocked Malaysians.

Today, Khairul Izaini Khairuddin, known as “Boy Tiger,” the individual named as the young tot’s stepfather, is expected to be charged, while his wife, the child’s mother, has been released on police remand.

Authorities confirmed that since the boy died in hospital on November 8, the couple have been held in remand twice, on November 13 and then again on November 19. The mother, Noraini Samian is expected to act as a witness in the case. Prosecutors are expected to charge the suspect under the Child Act 2001.

Doctors were unable to save the young boy, who arrived in hospital unconscious with his mother and stepfather. After examining the boy, they found he had a fractured skull and was covered in bruises from his face, to chest, stomach and back. Emergency room doctors worked for 30 minutes on the boy’s body before pronouncing him dead at noon. By then, both his mother, who was heavily pregnant, and stepfather had fled the scene. Police tracked them down three days later, after Noraini gave birth at Kajang hospital.
