Two neighbors who were caught on camera arguing over parking spots have been summoned by the police for questioning.
Shah Alam police chief Baharudin Mat Taib said in a statement on Saturday that two police reports have been filed over the Friday incident that was caught on camera and has since gone viral online. The four-minute-long clip showed two warring neighbors arguing over parking space and using potted plants to reserve their spots.
The incident occurred at around 3pm on Friday in Shah Alam, Baharudin said. The police reports have been withdrawn by both neighbors but investigations will still continue, he added. He did not indicate when the neighbors will be called to provide their statements.
“The investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor as soon as possible for a decision,” he said.
The video, which has been viewed more than 320,000 times since Saturday, began with two women shouting at their neighbors standing by the window of the second-story of their home. It then escalated with more shouting and with both parties hitting each other and locking horns at the parking space. One of the neighbors even cleared the potted plants placed at the parking lot.
Baharudin said the case is being investigated under Section 427, 269, and 148 of the Penal Code and for breach of COVID-19 procedures. Those found guilty can be jailed or fined.
