She said, she said: Shopping mall bust up featuring a celeb PA and shop assistant

Well, well — it seems we’re no closer to understanding who or what happened in a viral clip that began to make the rounds yesterday afternoon, but we’ve got enough information to give it a shot.

Here it goes: This is KLCC Suria, a popular shopping mall right next to Malaysia’s most imposing structure, Tun Razak Exchange, the Petronas Twin Towers.

Earlier this week, deep in its annals, basking in the confluence of nearby flattering Sephora lighting, the intoxicating aroma of Auntie Anne’s pretzels, and the immediate medical attention of a Guardian pharmacy, two women decided to have a go at each other, and of course in a crowded mall — at least one human was present to film and upload the fracas onto social media.

Behold:

Alright, now an explainer. Watching the video, the taller woman in the beige baju (outfit) asks the sales girl: Do you know who I am?!

We did not, and it made the clip slightly confusing, but we’re used to that.

Turns out, her name is Sheryna, and she is the personal assistant of Nur Sajat, a Malaysian cosmetics entrepreneur slash celeb whose biggest claim to fame at this point sadly boils down to some unwarranted speculation by religious authorities regarding her gender at birth. TL;DR — some individuals are mildly obsessed, and while it’s probably no one’s business, both Nur and her mother have clarified she is female.

Got it?

Deeper into the dregs of social media trash we go: After the clip went viral, both the shop assistant, named Mimi, and the PA have made public statements, and like two warring Real Housewives three Chardonnays to the wind, their stories conflict.

According to both Nur, who took to her Instagram to comment on the incident, and Sheryna, the salesperson showed great disrespect to both women. The duo claim that she spoke ill of Nur Sajat while she was present, and that she also referred to Sheryna as anjing (dog), quite the insult to some in this part of the world.

According to Mimi, she was simply slogging it out at work when a woman in heels stormed in, grabbed her, dragged her outside, and slapped her in the face, accusing her of all sorts of things.

Oh yeah — if you didn’t watch the clip until the end, the two women slap each other, eventually leading to the kind of fight that someone who just wanted to get a tee from Uniqlo needs to break up.

Now, Mimi has reported the incident to nearby Dang Wangi police, saying that while she retaliated, it was only after she was struck several times, and that prior to the video being shot, she was harassed by others from Sajat’s camp.

Nur and Sheryna are standing firm, saying that her harsh words provoked the entire incident:

“You called my PA a dog and said all sorts of things about me. When my PA went for you, you got scared,” she wrote via Instagram.

“Before you say anything bad about people, or even hate people, take a good look at yourself! After this sayang (love), try to respect people and do not insult them.”

Alright, alright — LADIES. Violence is never the answer. Harsh words or not, you can’t go around slapping people in KLCC, as much as everyone might like to — it’s illegal.

Police are now investigating the incident.
