JAKIM, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia, has taken a keen interest in local cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat, and would like to follow-up on social media chatter that she may or may not be transgender.

mStar has reported that JAKIM’s family, social and community development division deputy director, Dr Izwan Khusus, has posted an open letter to social media, extending an invitation to Nur to meet. He added that he wanted to provide help, and not punish her.

“We invite Nur to visit JAKIM so we can get to know each other, and discuss her situation,” mStar quoted Izwan as saying. He added that they could meet anywhere she was comfortable being.

Izwan reassured his Facebook followers that JAKIM was “impartial to the rumors” circulating on social media; however, the needed to understand “the real issues” first.

Kinda the equivalent of that friend that tells you they’re not judging you, but then like, you know, are totally judging you (Hi, Janet!).

He went on to write that while he was aware at the insults hurled at Nur, “my friends in JAKIM and I are always open to assist and give advice on issues of identity and gender confusion from an Islamic perspective.”

Honestly, really great that JAKIM has the time to reach out on a personal level like this to address social media gossip. Who cares about seeing the forest from the trees when every leaf is important.

Once they’ve resolved this issue, perhaps they can direct their energies towards educating and understanding why people are dumping dozens of innocent newborn babies every year. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
