To prove his love for his wife, man drinks a bottle of Dettol

There are a lot of ways to demonstrate your love to someone, but for this guy, it means downing a bottle of Dettol.

According to a report by Bernama, the 40-year-old man allegedly tried to kill himself after a huge argument with his wife by drinking a bottle of the antiseptic liquid.

Kota Kinabalu City police chief ACP M. Chandra told the daily that the incident took place at the couple’s house in Taman Indah Permai, near Kota Kinabalu, at around 11.09pm on Wednesday.

ACP M. Chandra said the man was trying to prove his love to his wife after a quarrel by downing a small bottle of Dettol.

“Then he fainted and was sent to Likas Hospital by police,” he said in a statement cited by the news agency.

According to the doctor who treated the man at the hospital, the man is reportedly in a stable condition, but ACP M. Chandra told Bernama that the man is being investigated under Section 309 of the Penal Code for attempted suicide.
