A policeman’s brave decision to pursue a suspect on foot backfired when he was shot instead.
According to a report by The Star Online, the incident happened at around 6pm on Tuesday when a police patrol car, which was reportedly on crime prevention rounds, encountered a suspicious-looking car along Jalan Tago at Bandar Sri Damansara.
As the police patrol car approached the other vehicle, it suddenly sped off.
A short chase ensued but when they got stuck in a traffic jam, three men reportedly jumped out of the car and fled on foot.
Not wanting to let the suspects get away, one of the policemen from the patrol unit gave chase but he was shot by one of the suspects.
The policeman, a Lance Corporal, was reportedly shot in the leg and was rushed to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.
He is reportedly in a stable condition.
District deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Ali Thamby told the news portal that the three suspects were foreigners and the police are currently tracking them down.
