A team of policemen rushed to a bank located in Taman Midah, Cheras after receiving a report of a bomb found next to a cash deposit machine on Tueday.
City police chief Comm Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh told The Star Online that an auxiliary policeman stationed at the bank noticed an item resembling a hand grenade next to the machine at around 5am and immediately lodged a report.
Upon receiving the report, the bomb disposal squad was dispatched to the scene. However, the team soon realised that, thankfully, it was a false alarm.
“The object was actually a toy resembling a hand grenade.
“The toy will be sent to the forensics unit for further investigation,” Amar was quoted as saying.
He added that the police will examine the CCTV footage and carry out thorough checks.
