Party’s Over: Another drug raid sees vast quantities of ecstasy, Erimin and ketamine seized

The quaint, family-orientated hub of Shah Alam has seen its second massive drug raid this week, with police reporting in their latest seizure to have confiscated RM700,000 (US$168,000) worth of narcotics at a location in the city, as well as another in Petaling Jaya.

Earlier this week, authorities busted what is said to be Malaysia’s largest drug haul, finding nearly four tons of drugs spread between two shop lots in Selangor. Over three tons of cocaine alone was found at the Shah Alam location.

News of the latest bust, where Selangor police raided an entertainment outlet in the Batu Tiga area of Klang, included a report that two women and a man were arrested. This then led to a raid on a second location in Setia Alam, where another suspect, aged 42, was arrested.

Police report that the trio arrested in the initial raid comprised of two female guest relations officers (GROs), along with their customer. The 42-year-old suspect worked as an e-hailing app driver, and was found to be in possession of 1,200 ecstasy pills.

There was a lot more where that came from, and the driver later took police to an apartment unit were officers found 800 erimin 5 pills (aka, hai fai, a benzo), 9,000 more ecstasy pills, and 500 grams of ketamine.

Shah Alam police say that the 42-year-old driver will be in remand for another five days while they investigate.

And if you’re wondering whether Kuala Lumpur is getting very dry, very fast – it’s also our duty to report that another bust was made this week in Damansara Utama. A 39-year-old suspect was found to be in possession of 235 grams of ganja, and 100 grams of syabu in his car. A raid on his house uncovered 1,700 ecstasy tablets, 1.8 kg of ecstasy crystals, and 470 hai fai pills.

Police say he had no previous criminal record, and is in remand for the next seven days.

While officers seem to be focused on cleaning up the streets, Malaysia’s Inspector-General of Police, Abdul Hamid Bador, has said that he is currently shocked by the number of his men testing positive for drugs during random screenings, with syabu being the most popular.
