We’re number 10! We’re number 10! Kuala Lumpur ranked tenth most visited city in the world by Euromonitor

Break out the champagne and sparkling apple cider, KLites: Our fair city has just been named the tenth most visited city in the world by Euromonitor International’s Top 100 City Destinations 2017 list.

That’s right, 12.3 million international tourist visitors have graced our shores over the last year, and that might finally explain exactly WHY there are just so many gosh darn people in the shopping mall at any given point, on any given day.

Asia, as a whole, had a clear global destination when it came to places people like to come to. Forty-one cities made the Top 100 rankings, and travel analysts at the Euromonitor project that this number will reach 47 by 2025. People just can’t get enough of us, we get it.

Hong Kong took pole position, with 26.6 million visitors descending on the territory annually. Much of this success is owed to visitors from mainland China, who still flock there in droves, despite recent strains on their relationship.

Other Southeast Asian cities in the top 10 include Singapore, Bangkok, Shenzen and Macau.

We love it. Keep ’em coming. We don’t know who else can afford some of that stuff at Starhill Gallery.
