A Sarawak man was badly burnt Monday, after trying to steal copper cables from an electricity pole along Jalan Trusan, in Lawas town.
The middle-aged cable thief was found caught between the power lines circa 11pm last night, after his attempted robbery resulted in a blackout for a nearby village. Locals saw him hanging from a 15-meter high pole and alerted the Fire Department.
The Star reports he was rushed to Lawa Hospital with life-threatening burns. Electricity has been restored.
