They could very well be the world’s most useless robbers. Seriously.
A group of robbers’ daring daylight robbery attempt failed miserably when they mistakenly ambushed a bulletproof vehicle with no cash inside.
According to The Star Online, the incident occured at 9.30am on Tuesday when three men were on their way back to Kuala Lumpur after dropping off their colleague, who was carrying a bag full of cash for their company, at klia2.
Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Zailan Tasir told the news portal that the three men were ambushed by several men on motorcycles and two cars just as they were approaching the Putrajaya toll plaza on the Elite Highway.
“The first car, which was initially parked at the side of the road like it had broken down, and another car blocked the front while men on two motorcycles came up on either side of the victims’ Toyota Fortuner and opened fire,” Supt Zailan was quoted by The Star as saying.
Unbeknownst to the robbers, the car, which had no money in it, was also bulletproof.
The three men reportedly managed to throw their car into reverse and escape the ambush unharmed.
Supt Zailan told The Star that the suspected robbers must have mistakenly thought that the three men were at klia2 to collect the money instead of delivering it.
“The money was already on a plane to Kota Kinabalu by that time,” he was quoted as saying, adding that the police are working on identifying the poorly informed robbers.
