The jig is up for ATM robbers who made off with RM800,000: they’re in jail now

The sun has set for four would-be outlaws, who had a taste of glory by momentarily absconding with over RM800,000 (US$190,000) from an ATM re-fill heist. Police have caught up with them, and all four are now in custody.

The armed robbery, where four guards were overpowered by the thieves, took place at a petrol station in Bukit Antarabangsa on Wednesday, at 5:30pm, just before that Ampang jam makes it impossible to go anywhere.

Police are also questioning the guards from Armour Security involved, one of whom was injured with a blow to the head, regarding the robbery. If watching a lifetime of heist films has taught us anything, it’s two words: INSIDE + JOB.

The four suspects arrested included one woman, 29, along with three males aged between 21 and 33.

The robbery, in broad daylight, had been a direct affair, with the suspects arriving on two motorbikes, firing a warning shot, disarming the one guard who had a shot gun, and basically riding off with the money.

And while some of us dreamers may think, wow – that seems pretty easy, let this be a reminder: the long arm of the law will always find you, cuz life is never like the movies, kids.
