Breaking news with regards to Malaysia’s most notorious wanted financier, Jho Low: Police have revealed that they know the whereabouts of the man who allegedly played a pivotal role in the multi-billion-dollar 1MDB financial scandal, and that they hope to bring him back to home to face justice by year end.
Malaysian police said on Wednesday they know the location of fugitive financier Low Taek Jho and hope to bring him back by the end of the year to help in investigations into a multi-billion dollar scandal at state fund 1MDB.

Low has been accused by both the Malaysian authorities and United States Department of Justice for having siphoned off hundreds of millions of dollars from the 1MDB sovereign wealth fund.
In a live broadcast, Malaysia’s Inspector-General of Police, Abdul Hamid Bador told viewers that he would “try [his] best to expedite the process” and that “hopefully we can get him back by the end of the year.”
The IGP added that he believes that the bao-like fugitive “has the protection of someone,” and has been given a safe haven in a certain country. Bets are open to where y’all think that could possibly be, but we’ll just add that over the last few years, a very wanted Low traveled with relative ease in and out of Hong Kong before dropping off the radar.
Abdul Hamid stopped short of directly naming the country, but confirmed that it has signed an extradition treaty with Malaysia.
So, guess that means we can rule out Taiwan?
“Our investigations found that he is free to move around, and able to run his businesses without any restrictions,” Abdul Hamid said.
Low’s representatives have yet to comment, but we’ll let you know as soon as we get the email. It touches us deeply that he’s keeping abreast over here on Coconuts.
Former Prime Minister Najib is currently standing trial over 42 charges related to 1MDB and other criminal offenses that he is accused of committing during his tenure. Both he and Low have strenuously denied any wrongdoing.
An early Christmas for justice, or will Malaysia just get Scrooged? Buckle up – we’ll just have to find out.
