iPhone 6 plans: How to choose the best deal

Wondering how to get the best deal on the new iPhone 6? Let’s take a look at the various plans available right now.

But before choosing a plan, here’s what you’ll have to keep in mind: upfront payments, monthly data capacity, number of calls and hidden charges. But having said it, it’s safe to say that for most iPhone users, data packages are all they care about.

We take a look at 12-month plans from three  of the country’s major telcos and they are Maxis (iValue 1), DiGi (iDiGi 50) and Celcom (Celcom First Prime).

Maxis: iValue 1
Monthly fee: RM100
Call: 333 minutes (to all networks)
Data: 2GB
iPhone 6 16GB: RM1,859
Upfront payment: 300 / 5 months
Total: RM2,159

DiGi: iDiGi 50
Monthly fee: RM50
Call: 50 minutes
Data: 2GB
iPhone 6 16GB: RM2,165
Upfront payment: RM50 / 1 month
Total : RM2,215

Celcom: First Prime
Monthly fee: RM98
Call: RM40 (include SMS / MMS) – the rate of 15 sen per minute or 1 SMS / MMS
Data: 4GB
iPhone 6 16GB: RM2,038
Upfront payment: RM150 / 10 months
Total : RM2,188

For iValue 1, you have to pay RM2,159 for the phone with an upfront payment redeemable of RM300 for 5 months. With this plan, your monthly bill will be RM40 for the first 5 months.

With iDiGi 50, it’s RM2,215 for the phone with an upfront payment of RM50 that will be deducted in your first monthly bill. It means that your monthly bill would probably be free for the first month.

Celcom First Prime requires you to pay RM2,188 for the device with an advance of up to RM150 that would later be deducted from your bill for 10 months. Your monthly bill would be RM82 for the first 10 months.

If you’re looking for the cheapest and Maxis is the telco to go to at RM1,859 followed by DiGi (RM2,165) and Celcom (RM2,038).

But for the best data plan, you might want to go to Celcom which offers up to 4GB compared to the 2GB from both Maxis and DiGi.
