Good news, folks; TNB to offer rebates for power consumers

In the age where everything goes up except your salary, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has given us some good news.

From January 1 to June 30 next year, TNB will be giving a rebate of 1.25 sen per Kwh to nearly all consumers.

According to a report by The Star Online, the rebate was given due to the lower fuel and generation costs.

However, only households with consumption of 300kWh and above will be given the rebate, the company said in a statement cited by the news portal.

“This ICPT rebate amounts to RM766.33mil and is made possible due to lower liquefied natural gas (LNG) price, higher performance of coal power plants and a reduction in the use of gas for electricity generation,” the company said in the statement.

TNB added that the rebate also considered additional gas cost following the government’s decision to further increase the piped gas price from the current RM19.70/mmBTU to RM21.20/mmBTU.

So, yay to some good news to start the new year.
