Firemen took almost an hour to catch this 100-kg python in Baling

It was an epic battle between a team of firemen and a huge python in Baling on Monday night.

According to The New Straits Times, the six-meter python was reportedly spotted by residents at a swamp area near residential homes in Kampung Luar, Siong.

Baling district Malaysian Civil Defence Force officer Mohd Faizol Ab Aziz told the daily that the department received a call from a concerned resident and a team of seven officers were dispatched to the scene to capture the snake.

The huge reptile, weighing about 100kg, had just swallowed a goat, Mohd Faizol said.

“After arriving at the scene 15 minutes later, the team found the snake in the swampy and bushy area.

“Efforts to trap the snake took about an hour due to the dark surroundings and soft ground at the swamp,” he was quoted as saying.

Mohd Faizol added that the python was handed over to the Baling Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan).
