Emerging talent in a tone-deaf choir, son of former Prime Minister Najib Razak, Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib, recently attended the World Cup Final, held over the weekend in Moscow.
Many were surprised to see the embattled former-PM’s son front and center at an international sporting event, as he and the family had spent the previous week calling foul on their frozen bank accounts.
How broke did Nazifuddin claim to be? So broke, he had his date buy him dinner and drinks.

Many wondered if he was there on official business, as he had been Secretary General of Malaysia’s Olympic Council during his father’s time in office, and his term in that role is purported to end only in 2022.
Syed Saddiq, current Youth and Sports Minister, took to Twitter to clear a few things up:
Dear @klubbkiddkl ,
I checked with OCM. He went there in his own private capacity. OCM & KBS did not pay for his trip.Thanks. https://t.co/OIRiiEPeR6

“He was not there representing the OCM and he paid for his own travel,” he wrote, yesterday.
Saddiq’s answer was in response to a query by Twitter user @klubbkiddkl regarding the World Cup travels of the former PM’s son.
On Monday, Nazifuddin posted a picture to his Instagram account implying that he was still working in an official capacity, as some kind of sports envoy.

The photo, showing him in London, inside what appears to be a BMW showroom, was captioned:
“A photo of me in the UK… Maybe this can be news material for tomorrow (Ed. Note: Or even the day after!) – Next I have to be in Jakarta for Asia Games #iworkinsports.”
Ouch. Nothing like getting your references checked in real-time, and finding out you actually maybe got fired from your last job, by the new boss. Onwards and upwards, and LinkedIn, Nazifuddin!
