Is the defense minister resigning? Suggesting a sexual innuendo?

Well, folks, it’s none of those.

A cryptic Facebook post by Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob drew wild speculations among Malaysians since yesterday over whether the politician may be closing his chapter as a politician or was simply entertaining a sexual thought after he shared a photo of himself closing the door of his office behind him with the caption: “I closed the front door but…”

Apparently, that post meant nothing more than what was already shown. During today’s press conference announcing more makeshift hospitals for COVID-19 patients, a reporter asked him about the motive of that Facebook post, to which Ismail replied: “That was because I wanted to go home, that was why I closed the door.”

The post, which drew more than 17,000 comments and 13,000 shares, became a hot topic of speculation on social media after it prompted many to wonder what exactly was running through the minister’s mind.

“Resign, withdraw support… there is no use for dato to be in the government… money can be earned, but dignity…,” someone named Haz Benjoe wrote online.
