Chilling video of Puchong jewellery store robbery goes viral on social media

A video of an armed robbery at a hypermarket in Puchong has gone viral online.

The incident reportedly happened at around 11.07am on Thursday in the Poh Kong Diamond and Gold jewellery shop located inside the Tesco Puchong Hypermarket.

In the three-minute video reportedly shot by an eyewitness, four men wearing bright safety vests and motorcycle helmets were seen rushing into the shop and started smashing the display glasses as a fifth person reportedly stood at the front of the shop as a lookout. 

The robbers were also heard yelling “Faster lah!” several times in the video, presumably at the terrified shop employees.

Bystanders were also seen taking pictures and videos as the robbers fled with the jewellery.

The video ended with a with a close-up of the jewellery shop after the robbers had escaped, showing its display cabinets completely smashed and the chairs upturned.

The clip has since gone viral on Facebook, amassing more than 899,000 views and shared more than 18,000 times:

Meanwhile, according to The Malay Mail Online, the police have confirmed the incident and investigations are underway.

A police source told the daily that initial investigations revealed that a sixth person is involved in the robbery, who is believed to be the getaway driver.

“The security guard present was not armed, and there were no customers inside the jeweller’s at the time of the incident.

“The losses are still being estimated but early investigations have found the suspects absconded with at least eight jewellery trays,” the source was quoted by the daily as saying.

The case is reportedly being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.
