The man known as the “ball bearing rapist” was sentenced today to a one-year jail term, and a RM6,000 (US$1,500) fine.
The criminal had briefly escaped police custody, half-naked, by slipping out a bathroom window. The nickname “ball bearing rapist” was given to the Indonesian suspect, Rahim Muhamad Pugawan, after it was discovered that he had added three implants himself to his penis.
Originally arrested after breaking into a house, and trying to molest a 14-year-old girl, his brief flight from custody saw him flee 20km from the Klang Utara police headquarters where he had been detained earlier, having hired a man from a nearby village for RM60 (US$15) to break his cuffs, and drive him back home. Not the brightest of bulbs, this one.
During his 17 hours on the run, he had also robbed a woman, and attempted to rape her. Villagers alerted police of his whereabouts after he was spotted loitering around the area.
Rahim did not pay the fine.
