Aiyo. Stall owner goes viral after she adds hidden charge to takeaway lime drink

A stall owner along the Kesas Highway in the Klang Valley has found themselves in viral troubles after adding a 30 sen (US$0.05) charge to takeaway drinks. So much so that the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) has slapped her with a fine for not displaying the surcharge.

What is the world coming to when air ikat tepi comes with a hidden fee? Cue every uncle across the lands complaining about the rising cost of chicken rice.

The 30 sen surcharge came on top of the RM3.50 (US$0.85) paid for the assam boi lime drink (great choice).

The stall owner, known on Facebook as Nita Saidi, took to the social media site to explain herself. She told netizens that under the current economic climate, 30 sen was nothing to consumers, but a necessity for her to pay the costs of the plastic baggie and tie to take away a drink.

Umm… So, nothing for us, but something for you? Riddle me that, please.

KPDNKK agreed with consumers, and slapped her with a compounded fine for not advertising her necessary charge.
