Fun fairs: In our experience, two un-fun hours anxiously spent looking for rides that appear to be the least corroded and creaky in a decrepit bunch. Also, once someone threw up a hot dog on our Tevas.

Sadly, for a young Perak girl, Sunday night ended in injury after she fell from an unsecured Ferris wheel carriage at a Hutan Melintang, Perak carnival.

Malay-language daily Harian Metro reports that the four-year-old sustained non-life-threatening injuries, breaking her right leg and suffering abrasions to her face and wrist in the 9:30pm incident.

Rushed to the nearby Teluk Intan Hospital, an uncle of the young girl told reporters that she entered the carriage before her parents; however, once she was inside, the wheel began moving. Her parents shouted for the brakes to be hit, but before the wheel could be lowered, the girl fell from the capsule. Bystanders had tried to catch the girl, but were unsuccessful and she tumbled from a substantial height.

She will reportedly undergo unspecified surgery, while her family considers taking legal recourse against the fun fair organizers. A police report has been lodged in the incident, alleging that several of the rides are unsafe. Fair management has confirmed the incident, and told Harian Metro they are cooperating with investigators.

Having been opened for three days prior to the incident, the fair was found to be not operating Monday evening.
