Founded in 2013 by a group of young visionaries looking to make their mark in the eco-fashion scene in Malaysia, accessory brand Biji Biji hopes to change how we look at waste and sustainability. They started out by working closely with a diverse and disruptive group of volunteers, taking the time to cultivate their brand while improving their designs. They have since expanded their core team and collaborated with a number of talented Malaysian designers and industry leaders.

The fashion trend cycle drives wastefulness to an all-time high, as production continues to be carried out on a large scale. There’s no wonder that the fashion industry is also the second highest offender on the list of pollution-generating industries globally. The conscious consumer can feel good knowing that Biji Biji products are made using materials recovered at their end-of-life stage from a range of industries. Examples include faulty seat belt webbing from car manufacturing, and deadstock vintage kimonos from the Japanese textile industry to name a few. By upcycling these into timeless bag and accessory designs, they breathe new life into materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill.

Biji Biji’s commitment to ethics and sustainability doesn’t stop there — the brand champions safe and fair labor practices (ie. fair wages and NO child labor), and all their products are made locally in Malaysia. Sustainability In Style. Support Biji Biji at www.bijibiji.co.
