One step closer: Malaysian teenager now in the grand final of singing competition

The Malaysian teenager who is making waves in a singing competition in China has just shown everyone why she is a force to be reckoned with.

Penang-born Lee Pei Ling has made it to the grand final of the ‘Sing! China‘ reality TV show, according to a report by The Star Online.

The 15-year-old, who is the youngest competitor on the show, proved that age is no obstacle as she wowed the judges with a sterling rendition of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” on Saturday.

The judges panel comprises of Chinese artistes Na Ying — who also serves as Pei Ling’s mentor on the show — and Wang Feng and Taiwan’s Jay Chou and Harlem Yu.

“I never thought about going so far as all the other contestants were doing so well too. I am really happy that I’ve made it to the final.

“My dad Lee Luan Sung and mum Ivy Liew will be in China to support me during the final,” she was quoted by the news portal as saying.

Pei Ling, who calls herself Jeryl, will go up against the likes of Singaporean Nathan Hartono, 25, and Chinese nationals Yang Meina, 27, Wang Chenrui, 25, Jiang Dunhao, 21 and Xu Geyang in the final, which is set to take place on October 7.
