‘OlaBola’ theme song wins award at Golden Horse Film Awards

Ten months after its release, ‘OlaBola’ continued its winning streak – this time, by winning an award at the 53rd Annual Golden Horse Film Awards.

According to a report by The Star Online, the theme song, titled “Arena Cahaya”, picked up the Best Original Song award on Saturday.

Singer Zee Avi was on hand at the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall in Taipei, Taiwan to receive the award.

“I thought I was here just to perform the song. Thank you Director Chiu for this incredible opportunity.

“This is an amazing project to be apart of as it is about unity, diversity and harmony, and it is to remind us that we are all the same,” the singer was quoted as saying.

The song beat four other nominees, which include the song by Leah Dou – the daughter of Chinese singer Faye Wong – titled “(It’s Not A Crime) It’s Just What We Do”, to win the award.

The fourth highest grossing local film of all time, ‘OlaBola bagged three awards at the Malaysian Film Festival.
