A guitarist reportedly died of a heart attack while he was perfoming onstage with rocker Awie at an event in Kepala Batas, Penang on Saturday.
According to the News Straits Times, 55-year-old Izharuddin Shariff, a member of the band Crosstown, reportedly collapsed onstage around 11pm.
Izharuddin’s brother and bandmate, Mohamed Izzamudin, told the daily that several people tried to help Izharuddin, who was reportedly still breathing at the time.
“Izharuddin however passed out shortly afterwards,” Izzamudin was quoted as saying.
Paramedics who were on standby failed to resuscitate him and he was pronounced dead while on his way to Hospital Kepala Batas.
