K-pop group BTS nearly made a similar mistake as their compatriot from the Running Man variety show – guessing Malaysia’s capital city wrong.

But the group was saved by a clue on their weekly online show Run BTS, which recently featured them doing a pop quiz on camera. When asked about the capital of Malaysia, one of them said that it was Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, before changing his answer to Kuala Lumpur.

“Why don’t I know the capital of Malaysia?” said RM in the video. He was the one who initially got it wrong. Other members of the global sensation were Jin, Suga, Jungkook, V, J-hope and Jimin.

The Butter singers, who are immensely popular in Southeast Asia, appeared thoroughly disappointed at themselves for guessing the wrong answer and quickly apologized to fans in advance. Lucky for them, Malaysian ARMYs were kind.

“I hope the ARMYs don’t get upset by this,” Jimin said apologetically.

“I’m sorry,” RM said, off-camera.

The group were in Malaysia in 2015, when they visited Kota Kinabalu in Sabah for a photoshoot, and briefly talked about it in the video.

“We’ve been to Malaysia before, right?” Suga asked his colleagues.

“We’ve been to Kota Kinabalu,” Jimin answered.

Their video comes days after a star from the Running Man variety show incorrectly guessed the capital of Malaysia as Manila, raising some eyebrows. But fans in Malaysia didn’t seem to mind RM’s mistake. All they cared about was their idols talking about their hometown.

“They remember us,” a BTS ARMY Malaysia fan account said on Twitter.

“Kim Namjoon really went Jakarta when asked what is Malaysia’s capital city ahahahahha, that’s a sign y’all should come to Kuala Lumpur again soon!!” 90_cestlavie wrote.

“Happy malaysia being mentioned in run bts, but when jimin mentions kota kinabalu, it makes me even more happier,” Twitter user Bbwilogim said
