Police are on the hunt for a man who is suspected of robbing and raping a 22-year-old woman under a pedestrian bridge in Kwun Tong in the early hours of yesterday.

According to HK01, the victim was walking towards Choi Hing Estate on the Kwun Tong Road footbridge at 12:40am yesterday when a man stole her iPhone 6s from out of her hand. The woman chased the thief down the footbridge stairs but when she got to the bottom, the man intimidated her by claiming he had a knife.

The suspect then dragged the 22-year-old to a flowerbed, covered her head with his jacket and used a charging cable in her bag to tie her wrists together, Apple Daily reports. He raped her for hours and used water to rinse her genitals of DNA evidence afterwards, according to Oriental Daily.

At some point, the suspect reportedly stole two bank cards from the victim, and forced her to give up her PIN codes before freeing her and fleeing the scene at about 5am. After the ordeal, the 22-year-old went home, where she told her family what had happened and called the police at around 6:48am.

She was taken to a hospital to be examined and was released shortly afterwards. According to her description, the culprit is a Cantonese speaking man of Chinese descent in his 30s, roughly 1.67 metres tall, and was wearing a black T-shirt, black trousers, and black glasses.

No arrests have been made so far. An investigation by the Kowloon East regional crime unit is underway, and police urge anyone with relevant information to contact the investigating officers by calling 3661 6230 or 3661 6334.
