Video of taxi drivers’ ‘boxing match’ at petrol station shared widely

A clip of two taxi drivers duking it out at a petrol station in Lai Chi Kok was shared widely yesterday, delighting the petty peanut-eating netizens of Hong Kong.

The man who filmed the video, surnamed Cheng, said he saw the pair arguing at a Sinopec filling station on Lai Chi Kok Road, at around 4pm yesterday. Cheng told Apple Daily that the two appeared to be fighting over who got to fill their tank first.

“It started off as a verbal argument, but then fists started flying, the white-haired man landed a few shots and the man in the striped shirt ended up on the ground,” he said.

Cheng posted the video on Facebook, where netizens compared the white-haired driver to local featherweight boxing star Rex Tso — and with his dodging and parrying, we’re inclined to agree. Some called the brawl the “Hong Kong Street Fighter: High Level Series”, while others complained the video didn’t show the final outcome (although we’re all pretty sure we know who the victor was).

Cheng told Apple Daily that he had to rush off and didn’t see how the dispute was eventually resolved. Our money’s on the white-haired guy though.
