(Video) Minibus driver gets into fight with passenger over toilet stop

Police are looking into an incident between a minibus driver and a passenger, after video of them getting into a fight over stopping for a bathroom break went viral, according to reports.

The video was posted on Facebook on Wednesday, but was picked up by media outlets on Friday.

So far, more than 273,000 people have seen the clip, which shows pent up tension bursting forth as a driver, heckled by a man with a full bladder, throws a furious fist or two.

According to the person who posted the three-minute standoff, the incident took place on a minibus from Sai Kung to Mong Kok at around 5pm on Wednesday, hk01 reports.

According to the website, the fight began because the passenger — who was reported by some outlets to be drunk — was pestering the driver to make a pit stop and find the nearest bathroom for him.

It’s unclear exactly how long this pestering went on for, but long enough for the driver to lose it, turn around and ask the passenger: “Do I have to stop my bus so that you can go to the toilet?”

The war of words escalates to a point where the passenger continuously swears at the driver, who then responds: “In a minute I’m gonna get out of the bus and hit you.”

Though driver does eventually drive the minibus to a gas station, the built up pressure was not immediately relieved. The passenger continues verbal his stream of consciousness  — asking “is there a bathroom there? Will it be easier for you to hit me?” — and stays on the bus.

Both men finally get out of the vehicle — it is not clear if the passenger was pulled off the bus — but the driver can be heard saying “get out” and is later seen hitting the passenger and then punching him.

One of the passengers can be seen intervening in the fight and telling the driver to get back on the bus. He then stops the passenger at the center of the spate, who tries to get back onto the bus, telling him plainly to “go away” before adding a few choice phrases to make his point felt.

Netizens were divided on what to make of the whole display.

Some agreed that while the passenger was being disorderly, the driver should not have lost his temper. Others however sided with the man driving the minibus leaving comments like “go driver!”

Police told HK01 that they were following up the case, the website, meanwhile, tracked down the minibus driver, but he declined to be interviewed and drove off, the website reported.
