At least two students missed the first day of school today thanks to a seven-car pileup on a highway in the New Territories’ Tai Po neighborhood. Luckily, there were no serious injuries.

The crash happened at about 7am, when the vehicles, including a taxi, two vans and four cars, collided with each other on the Kowloon-bound lane near Tai Po’s Kwong Fuk Estate. HK01 reports that two drivers and a 5-year-old boy sustained only minor injuries.

The boy, who suffered a slight injury to his forehead, was taken home after being treated by medical workers on the roadside, Oriental Daily reported.

Parents of another primary school student involved in the incident told Apple Daily that while their son had not been injured, they had informed the school he would not make it to class today.

The crash caused a brief closure of the Kowloon-bound fast lane, resulting in backed-up traffic during rush hour.
