Hong Kong police are searching for the family of a young boy found abandoned in Tsim Sha Tsui yesterday.
In a statement, the cops say they’re “anxious” to find the child’s next of kin, explaining he was discovered at Kowloon Park on Austin Road about 2pm.
The Chinese boy is aged between 6 and 8 years old, about 1.3 meters tall and weighs 40 kilograms, the police said.
“He has a pointed face with yellow complexion and short black hair. He wore an orange jacket and pink trousers when being found. No identity document was found, ” the statement said.
A photo of the boy distributed by police, shows the child in what appears to be a stroller, which could indicate he has special needs.
Normally, Coconuts HK would not publish a photo of a child, but police are currently urging relatives or anyone with information to contact the investigating officers on 3661 9200 or 3661 9225, or email to ip-sip-dit-9-ytdist@police.gov.hk.
The police added the boy did not appear to have any injuries but was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for observation, while an investigation team from Yau Tsim District is now looking into the case.
The case is not the first of a child found without parents or a guardian on the streets of Hong Kong.
A young boy was discovered left alone next to a rubbish bin in Wan Chai in October, only a day after a newborn girl died after being abandoned near a bin in the same area.
Police in December 2016 launched a search for the parents of an infant girl who was abandoned at a barbecue area in Sai Kung.
The girl was found with a note inside a red packet stating she was 5 months old and suffered from cerebral palsy.
