Police investigating death of taxi passenger who fell from moving cab while vomiting

Police are probing the death of a 28-year-old man who fell out of a moving taxi in Pat Heung early this morning.

According to Headline Daily, the man was reportedly drunk and had opened the door to vomit when the accident occurred.

In a statement, the force said the incident happened about 12.30am as the taxi, driven by a 54-year-old man, was traveling along the Tsing Long Highway towards Yuen Long.

“After departing from the toll booth of Tai Lam Tunnel, the 28-year-old male passenger reportedly opened the door and accidentally fell out from the taxi,” it read.  “A following private car failed to brake and hit the man.”

According to the police, the man suffered serious head injuries. He was rushed to Pok Oi Hospital in an unconscious state and but was certified dead at 12.59am.

The Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is investigating the crash and has appealed for witnesses to get in contact.
