Police arrest cabbie who shared photo of breastfeeding passenger online

Police have arrested a taxi driver who sparked a social media furore last week after he allegedly photographed a breastfeeding passenger and shared the snap online.

Investigating officers from the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau located the 48-year-old suspect, surnamed Chow, by tracing his IP address. Chow was apprehended at around 5:40pm yesterday, near his flat in Sham Shui Po, HK01 reports.

He was arrested on suspicion of accessing a computer with criminal or dishonest intent.

Upon searching Chow’s apartment, police seized four mobile phones and a dashcam, as well as items of clothing which matched the outfit he reportedly wore when driving the victim. The taxi Chow drove was impounded and taken to Sham Shui Po Police Station for inspection.

After questioning, the 48-year-old was released on bail and is required to report back to police in early January.

Anyone who has information regarding the case is urged to contact investigating officers by calling 2860 5012.
