A plane that departed from the Hong Kong International Airport Thursday night, bound for the Spanish city of Madrid, was forced to make an emergency landing in Russia due to an engine mishap.
Citing Russian media, Xinhua News Agency said the Boeing 777 plane touched down in Moscow. Nobody was injured.
The aircraft was operated by Rossiya Airlines, a Russian carrier headquartered in St. Petersburg. The plane, flight number FV4520, was scheduled for take off at 11:20pm, departure information on the Hong Kong International Airport’s website states.

According to a source at the Sheremetyevo International Airport, the main airport serving Moscow, the aircraft was operating as a cargo flight, Bloomberg reported.
Boeing found itself in the headlines earlier this week when on the same day, two of the aerospace company’s flights—one in Denver, Colorado and the other in the Netherlands—were forced to make emergency landings.
In both incidents, the plane’s engine caught fire, causing debris including shattered pieces of fan blades to rain down onto the ground.
