In a rare accident at Hong Kong International Airport, a Dragonair plane and an aircraft service van collided earlier this afternoon, resulting in the van driver’s hospitalisation.
Apple Daily reports that flight KA691 was preparing to depart for Penang at around 4pm when a China Aircraft Services van collided with the plane’s left engine.
The van’s roof was ruptured and its driver was trapped inside. He was freed and rushed to hospital with injuries to his head and shoulder.
Passengers on the plane, which was scheduled to depart at 3:30pm, were reportedly asked to disembark the aircraft and the flight later took off at 4:20pm, according to Flight Aware.
An investigation by the Civil Aviation Department is underway. No other flights were reported to have been affected by the collision.
