Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide in the New Territories after a 23-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her parents and then killed herself.

The grisly case unfolded Monday afternoon after police discovered the three bodies in different bedrooms at the family’s flat in Tuen Mun.

In a statement, police said that the mother and father were found dead at the scene, with stab wounds to their bodies. The daughter was found with a plastic bag, which was connected to a bottle of helium, over her head.

Police said she left a suicide note, in which she wrote that her eczema, a condition that makes skin red and itchy, had caused her suffering.

“The contents of the note overall talks about difficulties with her illness and that “life is worse than death”,” acting assistant district commander of  Tuen Mun district Yan Fong-wai told reporters at a press conference.

The Standard reported that she blamed her parents for her battle with the skin condition, writing in an online forum that “giving birth to a baby with eczema is worse than giving birth to a baby in a poor family.”

“Poverty you can change through your efforts but eczema, sorry, you have to suffer for your whole life — it can’t be cured.”

The young woman’s older sister was on a business trip in mainland China when she was notified of her family members’ deaths.

Police also said they recovered a knife in connection with the case, and that autopsy results are pending.
