Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman whose naked body was found on the rooftop of a restaurant in Kowloon.

Officers received a call at 10am from a construction worker who found the woman’s body as he was working on renovations at the Fulum Fisherman’s Wharf Restaurant at 78 To Kwa Wan Road. The worker told police that he didn’t recognize the woman.

Eight police vans were dispatched to the restaurant, and paramedics at the scene confirmed the woman’s death.

Her body was found underneath some pipes on a roof area where restaurant staff would go to take breaks, and HK01 reports that there was a three-centimeter wound on the back of her head.

Police confirmed to Coconuts HK via email on Thursday night that the deceased was a 50-year-old Asian woman, and that they still need to determine the time and cause of death via autopsy.

Officers did not confirm to Coconuts HK the identity of the deceased, but several outlets reported that the woman is a 50-year-old cleaner surnamed Wong.

Ming Pao reports that police also carried out inquiries at the Honour Building, a residential block next door that overlooks the roof of the restaurant, and also where Wong lived alone in an apartment on the second floor.

The newspaper reports that Wong was reputed to have a drinking problem, her husband passed away years ago, and her daughter had moved out. They also reported that she did not have a history of mental illness

CCTV footage from the Honour Building shows Wong was last seen entering the building on the evening of Wednesday, April 24.

Apple Daily reports that forensics experts collected a number of items from the premises, including a blood-stained chair from the restaurant, and officers from the police tactical unit were deployed at the entrance of the Honour Building on Thursday night.
