Mother arrested after cutting 15-year-old son with fruit knife for skipping school

A 43-year-old woman was arrested last night after she allegedly cut her 15-year-old son’s arm with a fruit knife for skipping school.

The incident occurred at around 10pm yesterday at the family’s home at Fu Heng Estate in Tai Po. According to Apple Daily, the woman, surnamed Lau, was contacted by her son’s school yesterday and told that the boy hadn’t attended classes for two days.

After she returned home from work, Lau and Chan got into an argument, during which the mother grabbed a fruit knife and cut her son’s left arm. Chan called the police, who arrested his mother.

Chan told Apple Daily that he simply wanted to be taken to hospital, and didn’t expect his mother to be arrested. The 15-year-old said he’d been skiving because his school was “too strict” and didn’t allow him to pursue his interest in music, but told reporters that he knew he was being “naive” and would apologise to his mother.
