A laser tattoo removal clinic has found an ingenious way to ridicule sixteen regretfully impulsive Hongkongers: the clinic is hosting a year-long contest on Facebook to determine which contestant shed their shameful body art the best.
The competition embraces awkwardness on many levels. Besides encouraging sixteen people to publicise their progressively fading regrets as they undergo laser removal treatment – which will make for posts even less interesting than an Instagrammed breakfast – Facebook users are being urged to like and share pictures of total strangers’ tats.
Photo updates will be posted to the company’s Facebook page throughout the year as contestants get their treatements.

The winners of three highly prestigious titles – Best Tattoo Removal Progress, Best Transformation, and People’s Choice – will be determined by how many likes and shares the photos receive.
A share counts for 10 votes to make up for the added embarrassment of the photo reaching wider audiences.
The competition will be ongoing until Nov. 30 2016, probably just to emphasize how arduous of a process it is to erase your bad decisions from your body.
In addition to stardom, each competition category winner will receive a prize package, either: “A Night on the Town” (buffet dinner with drinks for two plus free admission to a “fun activity”) or “Weekend Getaway” (a trip for two including transportation to Macau, one night’s accommodation, dinner for two, and two tickets to a show or ”fun activity”).
