Jimmy Lai reportedly ‘doesn’t remember’ donations to Hong Kong pan-democrats

Apple Daily founder Jimmy Lai testified yesterday in a closed-door hearing for LegCo about his alleged donations to pan-democrat lawmakers.

According to Ming Pao, the entrepreneur had only one answer to most of the questions posed by the Committee on Members’ Interests:

“I don’t remember.”

Jeez, this guy’s been smoking too much weed!

The panel is trying to find out if any rules were broken when donations were made to Labour Party leader Lee Cheuk-yan and Leung Kwok-hung (A.K.A “Long Hair”), neither of whom declared the amounts to LegCo.

Lai refused to answer questions from reporters outside the panel hearing, only stating that he might be called back to testify but has nothing to worry about.

Clearly no weed paranoia then.

Lee, who was also there, refused to say what he said in the hearing, but stressed he accepted Lai’s donation on behalf of the Labour Party and not as a lawmaker, therefore breaking no rules.

The panel has not set a time frame for the investigation, but Committee Chairman Ip Kwok-him said the investigation could take up to a year.
