Wild boar sightings are quite common in Hong Kong; we often find them taking a stroll through our city centres or rummaging through dumpsters for something to eat.
It also turns out that Hong Kong’s wild boars are pretty good at swimming — or “hoggy paddle” as its known by scientists — as photos and video of one wild boar taking a dip in Victoria Harbour on Tuesday prove.
According to photos posted on Facebook by Cheuk Wai Lim, pedestrians spotted the pig swimming in Sai Wan near Kennedy Town around 6pm on Tuesday.
After it finished its swim, it decided to wander around the town, presumably to look for food as it probably worked up an appetite, Apple Daily reports.
Police were sent to the Kennedy Town area to track down the boar after receiving a report of the wild boar sighting and came armed with police shields.
The newspaper reports that the wild boar then ran to Belcher Bay Park in Kennedy Town after trying to avoid police. It was eventually caught by officers and personnel from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) at around 9pm that day.
