Police have arrested a 21-year-old Hong Kong woman after she got into a brawl with a Frenchwoman in fancy dress at a bar near Lan Kwai Fong.

On.cc reports that at 2am on Saturday, the 53-year-old Frenchwoman was drinking and dancing at a Wyndham Street bar when she reportedly bumped into a 21-year-old woman, surnamed Liu, with the bump ultimately culminating in a barroom brawl.

During the melee, the Frenchwoman claimed to have lost a HK$500,000 (about US$64,000) diamond ring. She was taken to Queen Mary Hospital after receiving injuries to the face and waist.

A video report by on.cc shows the Frenchwoman, who claims to be a fashion designer, emerging from an ambulance wearing what we can only imagine is a fancy dress outfit that included a polka dot headband, a gold cape, a black bodysuit, and a white sheer skirt.

In a video from on.cc, on her way into the hospital, the woman turns to the cameras and says: “Are you journalist? I need to report what’s happening in Hong Kong: it’s not secure anymore, not secure in the club.”

She continues to ask to speak to the press, even as she walks away from what is clearly a press pack and goes into the hospital.

Liu, meanwhile, was arrested on suspicion of common assault, and the Central police district classified the case as common assault and lost property.
