A distraught father who found his 18-year-old daughter to have died in her sleep at home in Tsing Yi yesterday refused to allow caretakers to take her body away, reports Sing Tao Daily.
Worried that his daughter was late for school, the man went into the girl’s room at around 11am and found the girl unconscious. He called emergency services.
When paramedics arrived, they certified that the girl had passed away.
Noticing that the girl “had a runny nose”, the father was said to have believed she was “still alive” and stopped caretakers from removing the body from the home, the paper said.
Police on the scene arranged for a separate team of paramedics to arrive and examine her in order to certify that she truly had passed away.
The girl’s cause of death is currently unknown.
