These four wild boar were almost no more.

The hog family had a close call with a car over the weekend while trying to navigate a busy roundabout.

Video posted onto a Facebook group for dash cam footage on Saturday shows the moment the driver of the vehicle slams on the brakes just in time to avoid hitting the four wild pigs after they ran onto the road before leaping to the roundabout.

According to the video caption, the driver was driving along Po Ning Road near the Hau Tak Estate just before 10pm on Saturday.

Many netizens commented on the video praising the driver for his quick reflexes and not hitting the creatures.

According to the Road Traffic Ordinance, a driver must stop their vehicle when they have been involved in an accident that has harmed an animal.

Calls for that list to include wild boars was highlighted earlier this year when five wild boar piglets were killed following a hit and run in Tai Mo Shan.

HK01 also reported yesterday that two wild boar piglets were hit by a motorcycle on Tai Po Road near Cheung Sha Wan in the early hours of Monday morning.

The motorcyclist, who reportedly injured his foot during the collision, stayed at the scene and refused to be sent to the hospital.

Personnel from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department were at the scene, and the website reported that two other wild boar piglets were also spotted at the scene of the accident.
