The body of a man was found floating among the debris in the sea in Sai Kung this morning, though authorities are yet to say if the death is linked to typhoon Mangkhut.
According to Ming Pao, fire services received a report at 8:23am this morning that the man’s body was found floating in the sea just outside Hai Pong Street waterfront.
Apple Daily reports that the deceased is believed to be about 50-years-old.
Police are investigating the death and are trying to confirm the identity of the deceased man, HK01 reports.
It is not clear if he died as a result of typhoon Mangkhut, which was reported to be the most intense storm to hit the city in decades when it slammed into Hong Kong on Sunday.
The outlet said he was found wearing a dark t-shirt and underwear and didn’t have any ID on him.
More than 300 people sought treatment for injuries or medical problems while its winds lashed the city.
According to the SCMP, three Hong Kong workers were injured by falling fence while removing trees toppled by the typhoon.
