Police have arrested a 35-year-old man on firearms and drug charges after he was allegedly caught not only with a gun on his person, but two more back his apartment, along with more than four kilos of heroin and meth.

A pistol was seized when officers stopped and frisked the man in a staircase in a building on Yee Kuk Street, in Sham Shui Po.

“A .25-caliber semi-automatic pistol with four bullets in it was found on him,” superintendent Chan Sze-leung said, adding that two more semi-automatic handguns and three bullets were found in a search of his apartment.

One of the pistols did not appear to be in working order, and detectives from the Kowloon West regional crime unit are looking into the origin and intended use of the guns.

Seven replica guns were also found, along with a samurai sword, three knives, a pair of handcuffs, and HK$110,000 (US$14,160) in cash.

Inside a safe, police also allegedly found 2.8 kilos of heroin and 420 grams of crystal meth, with a combined street value of about HK$2.4 million (about US$309,000).

The man — who was carrying a temporary identification document that prohibits its holder from taking employment — was arrested on suspicion of possessing firearms and imitation firearms without a license, possessing offensive weapons, and trafficking in a dangerous drug.

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests can’t be ruled out, Chan said.

The suspect was due to appear in Kwun Tong Magistrate’s Courts today.
