A woman has been charged with common assault after she kicked and hit a Cathay Pacific flight attendant for being too slow to clear her tray table.

The passenger, a 34-year-old Chinese national and HKID holder surnamed Liu, reportedly kicked and hit a 29-year-old flight attendant, surnamed Wen, on flight CX754 from Bangkok to Hong Kong on Friday. Liu was arrested after her flight landed at Hong Kong International Airport at 4:23pm.

Police told the SCMP that Liu became angry because the flight attendant, a 29-year-old woman surnamed Wen, was taking too long to clear her tray table. Liu reportedly kicked Wen twice on the leg and hit her once on the shoulder.

Liu applied for bail at the West Kowloon Law Courts today and was released on HKD3,000 bail. She has been ordered not to leave Hong Kong and is required to report back to authorities on August 28th, Headline Daily reports.

According to a statement from Cathay Pacific, Wen was sent to a hospital for examination but was released after tests confirmed that she was fine.

Those found guilty of common assault are liable to one year’s imprisonment.
