85-year-old hit by bus in Wan Chai administered first aid and shielded from rain by goodhearted passersby

An elderly man hit by a double-decker bus in Wan Chai today was administered first aid and shielded from the rain by goodhearted passersby, who kept him company until an ambulance arrived.

At around 12:15pm, the 85-year-old man, surnamed Lee, was hit by a 101 Citybus outside 165 Wan Chai Road, and collapsed onto the road, according to Apple Daily.

Passersby who saw the accident quickly rushed to Lee’s side and covered him with their umbrellas while calling emergency services. Others ran to two nearby medical clinics and asked for help from their doctors.

One of the doctors on the scene who ran out to help Lee later told Apple Daily that he administered basic first aid to the elderly man, who was bleeding heavily from his head.

Lee was soon taken to hospital by ambulance and was reported to be in stable condition.

When asked by reporters about the praise he received from bystanders, the doctor humbly said, “It’s our duty.”

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
